Take a picture of your candidate and use it as your avatar
Published on June 19, 2008 By CodeCritter In Political Machine

HOW-TO: Take a snapshot of your candidate and use the image online.

NOTE: In order to do this, you will need to update to version 1.02.024 (or greater) via Impulse.

The updated Political Bobble-head editor includes a "snapshot" feature which you can use to take a picture of your candidate that you can use outside of the game.

As you can see, I'm using my own candidate's image as my avatar at this site.

To take a snap shot, select the candidate you want to take a picture of, and go to the "Customize your Leaderhead" screen.

Near the bottom you'll see the snapshot button (camera icon).  Click on that button.

Now you will see a "viewport" appear.  You can use the arrows to move the viewport around the screen.  You can make the viewport bigger or smaller using the buttons on the viewport or the page up/down buttons.  You can cancel the snapshot by clicking the X button on the viewport.

Move the viewport to a desired spot to capture your candidate.  Then click the snapshot (camera) button on the viewport.

The game will take a picture based on what you see in the viewport and display a preview image.  If you like what you see, you can click the Save button ( or hit Cancel to go back to the previous screen )

When you hit save, the game will save 3 images into your /My Documents/My Games/PolMachine2008/Snapshots folder.

Each image will be the same image only a different size.  The game saves your image as 256x256, 128x128, and 64x64 pixel PNG files.

You can then use these images in any programs or on any forums that support PNG files.

Note: To use your image on this site, you will have to modify the image in an image editor to be 50x50, since this is the max image size allowed by this site for your avatar.  Other sites and programs may use the other sizes that are generated by the game.
